I really enjoyed this class and definitely feel like I learned a lot from it. What I like most about it is that it was online and that the assignments were laid out in the beginning of the semester to complete earlier if needed. I knew I was going out of town one week so I was able to write my blog posts before I left and submit them via the blogspot application on my phone while I was gone. My least favorite thing about this class was the group assignments. Don’t get me wrong, they were not awful, but it’s hard to work with a group you know nothing about or see in class on a regular basis. Since this is an online class, everyone has different schedules so there wasn’t a time easily decided for everyone to get together or meet before or after class like a regular on campus class group would be able to. Other than that I have no complaints. =) the discussions were very interesting and eye opening and I’d recommend the course to anyone who asks!
I completely agree with you about this class’s strengths and weaknesses. I think the whole class will have similar views. Group work was a huge pain, depending on your group members. I think it would have been much easier had this not been an online class. However, the class overall was simple. I would also gladly recommend this course to anyone interested on taking an at-your-own-pace hybrid class. I, however, would not recommend this class to someone who thinks they don’t have to be committed to group participation. Also, you made a great point about being able to write posts weeks in advance if you so choose. Everything was very straightforward and deadlines were maintained, which I really appreciate.
ReplyDeleteI really do agree with the comments that you had made about the class. The best part about the class was the fact that it was so easy to do the work on your own time, that being in advance or during the week that they were due. I really took advantage of this on weeks that I knew I would have a lot of work due for other classes, I would do the work for this class ahead of time then that would give me more time to do the more difficult work that was due that week. Also I agree with the group assignments, they were not terrible they were just difficult to schedule time to meet. And the assignment’s difficulty really depended on the reliability of your fellow group members.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great online class. What I enjoyed the most was the assignments were given beforehand so if you were busy one week you could have finished them. Also we had a lot of time to finish the blogs and comments so that was helpful. I would have to agree with you on the group assignments. I just felt like the group assignments were a struggle only because trying to meet up with your group was hard. Everyone has their own schedule and it’s tough to figure out the best time to meet up for everybody. Plus there will be members who don’t even respond or ask questions a couple hours before it’s due. Besides the group assignments, the class was great.
